- Effect of Micro-irrigations on Growth of Kinnow Mandarin Under Silvi-horti System

Comparative effects of drip and micro sprinkler systems under kinnow + kinnow and kinnow + poplar silvi- horti system were studied under sub tropical climate. Drip system of irrigation was found promising in maintaining better growth of kinnow plants. Kinnow + Poplar system of plantation was found superior over kinnow + kinnow system of plantation under drip irrigation system. Under this system (kinnow + poplar) of plantation, values of plant height at 70% ETC were 2.55 m, canopy volume 23.51 m3, ischolar_mainstock girth 11.13 cm, scion girth 10.76 cm, and leaf area were 16.07 cm2. Of course, values for all these traits were higher at 100 % ETc under kinnow + kinnow system of plantation over kinnow + poplar system of plantation under drip system but these were at par with each other. Irrigation of kinnow orchards at 100 % ETc was found better irrespective of the systems of irrigation.Keywords

This paper describs the angiospermic flora of the Shankaracharya Hill, covering 204 species of flowering plants belonging to 38 families. Analysis of the species collected shows that the following five families are the richest ones as indicated by the number of species in each family; Gramineae 1451, Compositae (22), Cruciferae (17), Leguminosae (16) and Labiatae (12). These together represent about 56% of the species collected.- Senecio vulgaris Linn. - a Fast Spreading Exotic Weed of Crop Fields and Orchards of Kashmir

The article deals with some aspects of ethnobotany of "Pahari" community living in Basohli-Bani region of Jammu and Kashmir State ; it had so far remained unrecorded due to inaccessibility of the area. A combination of sub-tropical and temperate climate has considerable effect on its vegetation and also the inhabitants. The uses of 39 plant species are recorded in this communication. Yams are of common occurrence in this region and are reputed not only as edible but also in home remedies against swellings due to sprains or wounds. The medicinal uses of Rosularia alpestris and Viburnum grandiflorum are reported for the first time.- Contribution to the Ethnobotany of Padaris of Doda in Jammu & kashmir State India
